His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitarian & Scientific Foundation was established to serve the UAE community in specific and the global community in general. The induction of this Foundation comes as an extension of the vision of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan to ensure and deliver the determined objectives that serve the UAE community in specific and the global community in general.

Under the supreme authority of H.H Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan the Foundation aims to accomplish its purposes through its two main sectors.

Thalassemia is one of the most common inherited blood disorders known to mankind. It is estimated that at least 12 children are born with Thalassemia disease every hour in the World. With over 490 million thalassemia carriers in the World, in the absence of a comprehensive Thalassemia prevention program, children with Thalassemia disease will continue to be born draining the medical, social and economic resources of many nations.

In the recent past, the quality of life of many Thalassemia patients have improved. This contribution comes not only from the scientific advances but also due to of enormous self-less efforts of many individuals that include Patients, Parents, Scientists, and Medical Experts. Several dedicated Institutions have made enormous progress in improving the access and care of these patients. These efforts have so far not been appropriately valued.

Sultan Bin Khalifa International Thalassemia Award is one of the divisions of "His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Humanitarian & Scientific Foundation" that is dedicated to value substantive efforts and contributions that have been made towards improving quality of life of patients with Thalassemia & other Hemoglobinopathies, by Individuals & Institutions, at National, Regional or International level.

Sheikha Hessa Bint Mohammed Award for Holy Quran was established in order to encourage young women to understand and memorize the Holy Quran. The main mission is to literate the young Muslim girls with the knowledge of Holy Quran, so that they become the inspiring force spread the Quranic values of peace and love among their compatriots. 

Regional Collaborating Office of Thalassaemia International Federation (RCOTIF) is a joint venture between Thalassaemia International Federation and His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Humanitarian & Scientific Foundation.

Through the substantial and the operational support of His Highness Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Humanitarian & Scientific Foundation, the activities of Thalassemia International Federation  (TIF) will now be extended to many countries in the Eastern Mediterranean Region & Africa. The priorities of coverage are guided the decision of the TIF Board, the willingness of the countries in the region to actively participate and also the political stability within those selected countries.

ZOWD is a not-for-profit organization founded on March 18, 2012 to promote the habit of reading and love for reading to the communities across the United Arab Emirates.

ZOWD is an initiative of Her Highness Sheikh Alyazia Bint Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan. It was established in Abu Dhabi, but has activities and book clubs in all Emirates.
